Our Progress
A great deal has happened since we broke ground in 2014 and we’re incredibly proud of how far Shawfair has come. From the first foundations to a flourishing community taking shape before our eyes, every milestone reached is a testament to the vision, commitment and collaboration that drives this project forward. Our Vision
Great towns aren’t built overnight, they’re built by the people who live, work and invest in them. At Shawfair, we’re creating a place where community comes first – 4,000 new homes, schools, green spaces, retail and leisure, all designed around the lives people actually want to lead. Just southeast of Edinburgh, connected by rail and road, Shawfair is a town in the making and there’s never been a better time to be part of it.
Everyday Services
Shawfair is already home to a growing range of everyday services, from the new Co-op food store and David Lloyd health club to Spire Private Hospital and Marston’s pub and restaurant. As the town continues to grow, further retail, food and beverage, and community services will be added, ensuring that everything residents need is right on their doorstep.
Shawfair’s Legacy
Shawfair’s legacy will be shaped not just by what is built, but by how it is lived in over time. From long-term investment in education, infrastructure and sustainability to close partnership with Midlothian Council and the wider community, the focus has always been on creating something that lasts. A place designed to grow into a town people are proud to call home, now and for generations to come.
