The Shawfair Community Fund is delighted to be supporting the Danderhall & District Lunch Club this quarter, covering the transportation costs for members over the next three months.
The Lunch Club brings together a group of local elderly & vulnerable residents each week at Danderhall Miners’ Club, where they enjoy activities, companionship and a shared meal. For many attendees, it is their most important social outing of the week. While the venue is generously provided free of charge and lunches are supplied at a nominal cost, transport has remained a barrier for those with mobility challenges and it is this gap that the Community Fund is proud to help bridge.
The club is run entirely by volunteers who do a remarkable job organising weekly gatherings, including special themed events such as Valentine’s Day lunches and Burns Suppers. Their dedication to keeping this community connected is something we are very glad to support.
