One of the most significant milestones in the Shawfair story is taking shape and your views are needed to help make it happen. Midlothian Council has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) for a brand new community and all-through education campus at Shawfair — a key project within the masterplan that will serve residents of all ages for generations to come.
As part of this process, the council is holding a series of drop-in public consultation events where local people can view the initial design proposals, meet the development team and share their thoughts before a formal planning application is submitted later this year.
Round One – February 2026 The first events are your earliest chance to see the emerging proposals and feed into the design process:
- Wednesday 11 February 2026, 4.30pm – 8.30pm Danderhall Community Hub, Edmonstone Road, Danderhall, Dalkeith, EH22 1QL
- Thursday 12 February 2026, 4.30pm – 8.30pm Millerhill Community Hub, Dalkeith, EH22 1FG
Round Two – March 2026 A second round of events will follow, presenting more detailed and refined plans that will reflect the feedback gathered in February:
- Wednesday 11 March 2026, 4.30pm – 8.30pm Danderhall Community Hub
- Thursday 12 March 2026, 4.30pm – 8.30pm Millerhill Community Hub
At all four sessions, members of the development team will be on hand to answer questions and exhibition boards will showcase the evolving proposals.
This is a landmark moment for Shawfair and the wider community. We’d encourage as many residents as possible to come along, get involved and help shape what promises to be a truly transformational facility for Midlothian.
