Autumn Events at National Mining Museum Scotland

Up for a spooky treat this Halloween?   The National Mining Museum is hosting a activities for all ages.

Ghost Tour and Ghostly Tales On Friday 26th October step back in time and hear dark and ghostly tales from centuries gone by with Lady Anne Kerr and her mysterious companion. Walk around the pithead and discover the spirits of the colliery who refuse to move on into the afterlife. Then settle down in the candlelight with a glass of wine or a soft drink and listen to local stories of murder and witchcraft.

Ghost Hunt with Derek Acorah (of ‘Most Haunted’ fame) overnight on 27th October. Join the TV Ghost Hunter and Medium for one night only for some paranormal investigations on the pithead.

The ever-popular Children’s Halloween Ghost Tour and Ghostly Tales takes place on 31st October. Join the ghostly Mad Maggie McGhee and friends on a journey into Lady Victoria's dark and distant past. Discover the traditions of Hallowe'en, listen to stories of witchcraft and of people from the past. Dressing up is encouraged and there will be a prize for the best fancy dress costume.

After all the scares, lift your spirits with some comedy; Eric Davidson’s Fringe Show – Words of a Blether is on 8th November.  Or perhaps a traditional Silver Band is more your thing?  If so, be sure to catch the Newtongrange Silver Band’s Armistice Concert on 9th November.
